The Catoca is the fourth largest diamond mine in the world and is located near Saurimo in the Lunda Sul province of Angola with a projected life time of 30 years.
Sykes Group team were pleased to deliver another 3 MSL24K-7 Supertowers to the Catoca site following dozens of units supplied to the diamond mine since 2008. The orders have been channeled via Barloworld, a dealer representative covering Sothern Africa, inclusive of Angola.
The MSL24K-7 was custom designed by our Engineering team and hand built in our Landsdale facility in WA, Australia – by our experienced tradespeople and assembly team to specifically suit the customer’s application.
This is the only mine in Africa that takes this particular model of Light Tower and the deciding factor driving repeat orders since 2008 is the tower’s ability to easily direct the twin light masts, each carrying 8 x1500w Metal Halide lights.
The dual masts have a massive 24 kW of MH stadium lighting on a compact footprint. Masts can be oriented independently to bring virtual daylight to a variety of mining applications. The versatility of trailer mounting the unit enables rapid redeployment to wherever the customer needs light. This equipment is specifically targeted at heavy surface mining and anywhere requiring intense floodlighting.
Without doubt the MSL24K throws optimal warm white light across the work platform enhancing safe working conditions. It facilitates higher productivity at night as well as illumining the particular geology of the rock surface Kimberlite, the igneous rock which sometimes contains diamonds.
