Sykes Group is please to showcase the completion of 20 Mine Spec Mobile Lighting Towers for Rio Tinto for their Silvergrass minesite.

Our team worked consultatively with Rio Tinto to develop a solution that specifically met the needs of their site. Key features offered were an enormous light array consisting of 10 x 300W LED lights, full automation of machine deployment, and a huge 220 hours of run time. Customizations to meet Rio Tinto’s requirements included a purpose design dual axle trailer with hydraulic brakes, clear marking of service points and beacons to indicate machine status.

Following the successful supply of Lighting solutions for projects at their Yandi, Paraburdoo, West Angeles and Marandoo sites, the order was placed in December 2016 with completion date scheduled for June of 2017.

In February, Rio Tinto tasked Sykes Group to bring forward the delivery from June to support the accelerated schedule of their mine site.

By mobilizing our Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams, Sykes Group successfully completed the first 10 Towers by the end of March, supplying 50% of the order more than 60 days before the proposed date. The remaining balance was delivered over April and May, with Sykes Group team fulfilling the promise to keep our customers productive.

“The Mine Spec Mobile Light we build for Rio Tinto is an example of our focus on listening to our customers and using this feedback to continuously improve our offer, whether that be product design, specification or delivery times” Says Marcus West, Sykes Group Manufacturing and Production Manager

“The 10 head dual axle machine we have designed for Rio Tinto packs all of the great features of our robust 10M lighting tower into a compact, versatile footprint that can be towed behind any vehicle with a 2T towing capacity.” Says Latif Ahmad, Sykes Group Engineering and Quality Manager
